This utilises the <code>&lt;a><\/code>\u00a0tag (mostly referred to as \u201chyperlink\u201d these days) was called \u201canchor.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The visual code for a hyperlink is as follows;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&lt;a\u00a0href=&#8221;<em>url<\/em>&#8220;><em>link text<\/em>&lt;\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Types of Anchor Text<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SEOs segment anchors into seven primary types:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Exact match<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; An exact match or phrase that the target page is trying to rank for.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Phrase match<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; A keyword phrase containing the target keyword the target page is trying to rank for.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Partial match<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; All of the words of the target keyword appear, but not as the exact phrase.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Branded<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; The brand or company of the target page.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Generic<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; These are generic phrases, such as &#8220;here&#8221;, &#8220;click here&#8221; etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Image alt text<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; The alt text of an image used in a\u00a0link.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Naked URL<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; The target URL as it appears in a web browser\u2019s address bar.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why Anchor Text is important?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anchor text is designed to provide additional context to the linked resource or page, allowing users to better understand what they should expect prior to clicking through the hyperlink. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In terms of SEO, Google explains that anchor text provides additional context for search engines about the linked page &#8211; this may influence the linked pages overall rankings as it provides additional signals of trust and contextual relevancy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"content-type":""},"class_list":["post-24292","glossary","type-glossary","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/digitalnomadshq.com.au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/glossary\/24292","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/digitalnomadshq.com.au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/glossary"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/digitalnomadshq.com.au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/glossary"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/digitalnomadshq.com.au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=24292"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
