Google Autocomplete is the feature that predicts search queries as you type, helping you find information faster by suggesting possible completions to your search. In fact, it\u2019s been shown to lower typing time by as much as 25%!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It works across various Google applications, including the Google homepage, the mobile app as well as the address bar in the Chrome browser.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here\u2019s what it looks like:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Google will attempt to predict what you are searching for, and will adjust it\u2019s predictions as you type. See a search you want to use before you\u2019ve finished typing? Simply click the search and Google will do the rest.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to full phrase predictions, Google can also predict individual words that are based on both real searches and word patterns.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Fun Fact: Google calls it\u2019s auto complete \u201cpredications\u201d and not \u201csuggestions\u201d as it\u2019s aim is not to suggest new searches but to predict what a user might type next, based on what they think they are looking for.<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where Do The Predictions Come From?&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Google Autocomplete predictions are based on several different factors. In addition to real searches that have been done on Google, it also considers the language of the query, the location of the user, trending interest in a query and the user\u2019s past searches.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not only does this ensure they provide accurate and relevant results, but also results that are unique to a place or time, such as breaking news or seasonal events.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Managing Google Autocomplete Issues&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are several systems in place to mitigate the potential for unexpected or shocking predictions. These include:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sexually explicit predictions (not related to medical, scientific, or sex education)&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Hateful or harmful predictions against groups and individuals&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Predictions that are violent or dangerous&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Searches that might not return reliable content such as misinformation&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, Google Autocomplete is not always perfect. While Google will prevent predications from appearing, users are still able to fully type out a query to complete their search.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If a predication does follow any of the above violations, users are able to report them by clicking \u201creport inappropriate predications\u201d in the search box.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Google Autocomplete for SEO&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Google Autocomplete is especially beneficial for websites who want to conduct keyword research, but are not quite ready to take the plunge and purchase paid SEO tools.
