Transport Layer Security, or TLS, is a protocol that ensures data is securely transmitted over the internet. Whether you are browsing a website, sending an email, or shopping online, TLS encrypts the information being exchanged between your device and the server, protecting it from eavesdropping, tampering and forgery. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It’s an evolution of the older Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)<\/a> protocol and is characterised by websites with “https:\/\/<\/a>” in their URL. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Note: The use of the terms TLS and SSL are often used interchangeably, but they are technically different<\/em>. SSL was the original security protocol, but it has been replaced by TLS due to improvements in encryption and security.
